Man that's a lot of tags
Inspired by the previous XEXEX picture by DynamiteManEXE, I decided to go full on Cave here. I'll let you figure out the references. If you can't, Google things like "Cave bug girl" or, I'll give you this one, "Esprade". Or even "Cave shooting games" because I'll guarantee you'll find them all that way. Long story short, I love this company. It's a shame it had to go the way of "we're just doing mobile in Japan now". The games aren't even made by the same staff so all the post Saidaioujou efforts feel — unsurprisingly — devoid of magic.
All that said, Cave? I recommend. Or rather, I reco-mmend, right? And if nothing else, just listen to some of the soundtracks from these games, especially anything Manabu Namiki is attached to. This is the style of music I must have in my (larger effort) original games.
This is my first time trying to create a large scene with several small pixeled characters. There were a lot of little scenarios with various characters I had in mind so I tried to include as many as i could. Because of that, there are some inconsistencies (Nidorino, Nidoqueen, and BKI working in the same building?) But I included them all in anyway just for the sake of having everyone there.
What do you get when what's essentially a Japanese tween, a little black girl and the product of mad science combine their imaginations with their love of music? No, the answer isn't Jem, wise guy. I'll tell you! It's not J-Pop, it's Strawberry Milk Fantastic, the band that's who's sugar sweet feel good music will spread across the cosmos and flow smoothly into your eardrums like honey! And maybe get stuck there, too.
I've been sitting on this idea for about 3, 4 years tops as of the time I finally illustrated it. Strawberry Milk Fantastic was going to cross universes, being a band between Charlotte and Lisa, but considering that Aqua Bunny had since opened up to include anything related to a series, I'm no longer forced to do Nidos for their own sake. Now it's self contained in one universe, although if SMF is recruiting, I'm sure I can bend the dimensions and include Lisa later on, considering she's twee enough to fit right in.
All of Kine's leading females were either taught or already knew at least Charm and Attract, except Charlotte, who only specializes in making things cease to exist. What's that you say? Little Vulpix too? Oh you better believe it (in her case, it's variations of the same move, but it's the youngsters you gotta look out for. They're the ones that specialize in using cute to game the system). As the saying goes, with great power comes great responsibility, and I'm sure none of these upstanding citizens would dare abuse that power. Ok, so would you believe me if I said that only Nidoqueen's the responsible one? But I suppose you would tell me that was a given. The rest are manipulating their way in front of lines at the amusement park, and Charlotte is staring at everyone going around in the ferris wheel.
Nidorina's gotta channel that self expression and free spirit into something. Not everyone has hair or something worth stylizing, though, so Kine just gets a wig and Kirby gets his Wheel Ability hat. Nidoqueen gets a row of scales spiked and colored at the tips, complete with a prop wardrobe Nidorina likely has in a trunk somewhere for photoshoots. Ah, the life of a stylist.
Our favorite brunette, or should I say bluenette decided to dye her hair blonde and be weird for some reason. Just another day. Could it just be a marketing tactic for her salon, or has she just been following too many alternative bloggers? Funnily enough, this is based on real experience. By the by, I want that kick-booty shirt. I originally considered a (Real) Dark Matter print over Kracko, but I figured it would be mistaken for a flower.
Getting cozy and spending time together this winter holiday!
