Oh, Nidorie!

This is the other half of the Oh, Nidorie! picture duo. This is the Pokemon version for those who come to the site for Pokemon, considering that's what you'd expect. This image was just as fun as human "Nidorie", it really portrays her golden moment well, when she had her 15 minutes of fame. Naturally, this version would be rounder and stubbier. Human or not, though, she knows how to work what she has. Maybe the next step for her is runway model?

The other half can be found here.

I've Got My Love to Keep Me Warm

It's interesting to me to think that this picture would eventually inspire an animated version seven years later, but here it is, the original catalyst!

I know this is Sinatra's song, but I had the Billie Holiday version in mind. Why do I always think of Nidorina whenever I think of anything from an older era? Must be all those classic movies I watch. You know, the black and white movies were "men were men and women were women". Then again, she's the only Nido actress I have, not that that means a whole lot. Well, like any old song, this is one of my favorites. Well, anything sung by a crooner or jazz singer is pretty good, in my opinion. But, I also like Christmas music too. It's my favorite time of the year for the warm fuzzies.

A Youthful Wife

Imagery based off of a mini comic I drew a long time ago. Basically, the story was about Nidorino being an old frump while Nidorina's the happy but immature woman who needed to get out of the house. Fact of the matter is that while developing her character, I wanted her to be unconventional compared to most TV moms, but without being absolutely unrealistic (most of the time) or a polar opposite. Kind of like Peggy Hill from King of the Hill. It seems Nidorino's the more down to earth guy (instead of the cliched oafish father).

This is the part in the story regarding "Happy Cakes". Nidorino's a little freaked out when his wife decides to go into falsettos. In spite of it all, though, they balance each other out. I don't think the marriage would last long if his wife was a serious as he is.

Old Era Nidorina

I drew this after finding a collection of early to mid 1900's publications. These guys clearly had an understanding of organic design, it's a shame that a lot of people attempt to recreate a new retro style that's just flat and angular, though. Meh. There's some unnecessary hard angles here, but I was probably playing with the idea more than trying to utilize it.

Stylish Nidoqueen

Last of the stylized Nido femmes. This style of art really fits this character, being that she's all about elegance. I could have given her ornate clothes, but the idea was just to keep it simple, after all, I was just playing with the style, I wasn't planning on showing this off professionally. She looks like she has a snooty looks-down-on-others expression/posture. Despite being rich, that's not in her character normally, but you must admit it just works here. I wonder how she makes other Nidoqueen feel? She also looks like she doesn't even NEED other people's business. I can't imagine going to a dinner party myself, but I get the feeling by not over dressing, she'll end up with all eyes on her. "Oh gracious! What's to be done about that Nidoqueen?"

Stylish Nidorina

So, here's part two. The idea was to go for a sleek design that was at least somewhat organic, but didn't worry too much about Poke-anatomy (there's such a thing?). I think she could stand to be stubbier, though, but hindsight is 20/20.

Stylish Nidoran

I like the artistic style used in old Vogue magazines and other magazines in the 1920's. I tend to refer to it as the fashion style, I'll need to educate myself on the real terminology. Besides, anime style tends to wear after a while, even if the characters were made in Japan (now granted, not everything should be Americanized, Kirby didn't transition well, for example). So, I did a little miniseries of the PI series Nido femmes. Nidoran starts us off with this pie she's pretty proud of. It could be used if she decided to open up a fancy French restaurant. Kinda like Ratatouille, except the whole film is drawn like "Your Friend, the Rat" instead of CGI, and it uses Nidos. Hot diggity dog, I'd be all over that movie. Anybody who could pull that off would get my hand in marriage. Heck, even an animatic in layouts only would be sufficient.

Walking Alone

Monochromatic for some kind of emphasis. It's another sullen image of Nidoran, based off of "The Lonely Nidoran", the first Poke Tales story (but #3 in episode order).

What'll I Wear Today?

Nidorina wears a lot of clothes throughout the Poke Tales/Legends series, so here's some of the outfits she wears. The homemaker, normal, and nightgown looks are the most reoccurring. As you know, she can be dressed in anything, even cosplay, she's really fun. More importantly, each image you see here reveals a lot about her character.
