December 21st - Smoochum

"This isn't fun anymore! I don't want to be a Snow Queen!" Smoochum and Tyrogue get the most mileage design wise as humanlike children. This also takes place in the same location that Lapras is in, except Smoochum's looking up at an unpictured Jynx, who is the guardian of Mt. Frosty, alongside Articuno. Smoochum, however, doesn't want to assume the role of a guardian in the future. She just wants to play like the other kids. Revisiting all these old characters is a lot more fun than I should be allowed to have.

Smoochum is from Poke Legends.

December 20th - Emolga

Emolga takes the cake on cuteness for Pikachu knockoffs, and the one from the B/W anime is such a shyster from what I've seen. What is there not to love?

This Emolga was meant to be sort of a distaff counterpart to Sentret, though not as literal. She's even younger, and really just wants to play around in this big new world she's in. Although the comic she appears in won't come to be, let's still just hope she won't grow up to be greedy and cynical like her predecessor.

Emolga is inspired by the Pokemon of the same name in my copy of Pokemon Y.

December 19th - Bubbles and Shockette La'Vee

Possibly the earliest characters to have a surname. I tend to get "the meh" in regards to the Eevee line generically speaking, so it's fortunate that I still have an attachment to long established Eeveeon characters long before the family's popularity exploded and my interest dwindled. My favorite Eeveeon, however, fluctuates between these two because of these two. I can't really choose who I like more sometimes, but the edge is almost always in favor of Shockette, whom I adore way too much. But who cares! It's two for the price of one. Funnily enough, my very first favorite was Flareon, and by extension, Rosie.

Not much to say here that I haven't gone into detail about before. Bubbles is the least girly-girl of the girly-girls and most artsy, Shockette has a Tsundere thing going (not on the cliched end, but she still runs hot and cold in a wild, then down-to-earth way. She has no love interests). Rosie, unpictured, is conceited but in an oblivious means-no-harm way, and cares a lot for her sisters. Joy, also unpictured, is sassy and the odd man out. All of 'em (cept Joy, being a child) are pretty girls, but aren't out to capitalize on that despite the fact that they very well could. They're basically anti-spoiled girls, despite being spoiled girls.

The Eevee Sisters (La'Vee Siblings) are from Poke Tales.

December 18th - Mama and Baby Horsea

Like Vulpix and Nidorina, Horsea has had the title of favorite water type for years. I just don't draw them often. These two aren't really main characters, but are a good example of what Poke Tales was known for, which is to provide a story for all Pokemon, even if this placed them into One-Off status. The Horseas show up more than once, but they didn't do anything you haven't seen Nidorina do with her children, just under the sea and a with a lot more danger.

Mama and Baby Horsea are from Poke Tales.

December 17th - Mona

It's pretty funny that long after I grew out of the Kirlia-Mawile shtick from the early Creative Worlds era that my favorite Psychic and Steel types would still be Kirlia and Mawile. Admittedly, they're hard to top in terms of cuteness and design accessibility and familiarity (Kirlia is simpler than Gardevoir, but is more identifiable as humanlike than Ralts). I'm not even sure Mawile as a species have many rivals in the world of cute Steel types. I guess that's why adding Fairy as a secondary type just made sense, because it was sort of the outlier

The less said about Mona, the better. As I've written before, Mona isn't a Pokemon, she's a doggone experience. She'll fill your life with excitement, but that's usually followed by regret and/or remorse... and possibly a lot of apologizing.

Mona is from Chibi's Corner.

December 16th - Dwebble

Not much to say other than the fact that I like it because it's like a Parasect lite. Also, this Dwebble is female, but one of the very few without tertiary sexual characteristics. Not that it matters, considering the comic she was going to appear in was canned before it even started. However, she was inspired by the Pokemon of the same name in my copy of Pokemon Y.

December 15th - Kali

When the extraordinary has become routine and eccentrics are commonplace, you run out of cares to give. Therefore, Kali's probably the most stable character or the series, and definitely a person you want to stick with considering how odd everyone else tends to be. Granted, BaBeat isn't known for it's stability and everyone is aware that reality can change at a moment's notice, but that doesn't mean people don't still freak out over it. Kali's reached a point now where she's just... seen it all.

Kali is from Chibi's Corner.

December 14th - Nidorino Eto

Yeah yeah we all know about Nidorino already. Just let him sleep. What I can say is that, like Vulpix, he's maturing as well, though the changes are more sudden than gradual. Also picked for favorite Poison because I had better slots in mind for other Nidos. Since I've worked with Nidorino(s) much longer than Nidoran Male, Nidorino happened to get the top billing between them.

Nidorino is from Alternate Universe, and is also inspired by the Pokemon of the same name from my copy of Pokemon Silver.

December 13th - Miltank Kobayashi

Milk and pixels, as it were. Miltank's rather deceptively charming. She's a rather patient and positive character outmatched by Espeon (granted, Espeon is, uh, "special"...), and she's smarter than she looks or even acts. It's hard to make her upset, and even harder to make her angry, despite Kine's never-ending onslaught of verbal abuse and Chikorita's less than kind attitude towards her. Like Kine and Nidorina alike, Miltank tends to take a moral path unlike Nidorino and Sentret.

Miltank is from Alternate Universe, and is also inspired by the Pokemon of the same name from my copy of Pokemon Silver.

December 12th - Lapras

I really can't think of any other Ice type I like more than Lapras, who even then comes across as more Water. Lapras seems to suffer from loneliness. Coming from a series where Pokemon are largely creatures of habit, they see this giant sea monster and keep their distance, making up rumors and tall tales rather than, you know, actually talking to her. That's pretty rough, wouldn't it be nicer if more people talked to you than about you (positive or not)? She treasures all the genuine friends she makes.

Lapras is from Poke Island.
