Cuddle

At the end of the day, when you can be content with just a cuddle with the one you love most, even that could be considered living. No wonder they're so young and happy.

Do What You Love, Love What You Do

Kirby and Nidorina saw an ad for a new karaoke restaurant. And it happened to be all you can eat Tuesday. They were really on top of this one.

Kirby and Nidorina have a lot in common, jovial folk who love to sing (though not well), dance, and eat whatever happens to be in their line of sight! To them, they just live their life to the fullest, being joyful in everything that they do. And it's a nice time off from annoying friends/demanding family, too.

Supermom

Cleans the grimiest of messes, puts up with the naughtiest of children, and can prepare meals to satisfy even the pickiest eater, she's the one and only Supermom! Today, with toilet brush in hand, she braves the dank wasteland to do battle with the porcelain god himself. Tune in for this all new exciting adventure!

I was thinking about taking a Lichtenstein approach. It would be better if I didn't use an oekaki to do this, but as long as it can be identified as such. Then again, Lichtenstein just blew up the original art and repainted it, so the conceptual credit I guess goes to... whoever pioneered it. Just a point of interest, her enthusiasm for cleaning is actually somewhat based on Marge Simpson.

Everyday Adoration

It's natural for individuals to notice someone good looking when they pass by, or even have crushes on celebrities, even if they're already in a relationship or marriage. The key is not to dwell on that, though. There are some people, however, who aren't like this at all. And even further, some are only attracted to the one they fell in love with. It's a real thing.

Nidorina is one such person. She's worked with actors and has been hit on by various people throughout the series, but she's generally oblivious. And even when she does catch on, she just giggles and compares their attraction to a childish crush without showing any interest. She has never, and I mean NEVER seen anybody as attractive outside of her very own husband, Nidorino, who is basically her knight in shining armor as her case may be. It's true that she may be wearing tinted glasses per se, especially because Nidorino was at the right place as the right time, but she's not blindly in love with him, and knows he has faults. Still, it really says a lot to her girlfriends when they talk about hot soap opera leading men, and all she can talk about is how much hotter Nidorino is. They wish they could love their husbands as much as she loves hers. He drives her crazy at times, and he doesn't have to do anything more than smile warmly.

She thinks of Nidorino on a daily basis, because she cares a great deal about him and his well being. She's always excited to receive a phone call or see him via webcam (unless the reason for contact is bad news). Nidorino doesn't fully appreciate Nidorina's love for him and just how fortunate a husband he is until late in the series. All the little things, and the big things... everything counts. She always made sure he knew she loved him, there's never a promise of tomorrow, after all. All marriages could at least learn from this. So in this picture, Nidorino tries to show his appreciation by making her breakfast, but is absolutely stumped on what a whisk is or does. The meal WILL end in catastrophe, and she knows this. But you know what? She loves him just for the thought.

Tension

"Nidorino's just been so... distant, lately. He's working later, is always on edge around me, and he just seems to get upset whenever I want to do anything with him. I don't understand. Could it be that he still resents me? Is it the stress of having a family? It couldn't be possible that he might even be... seeing another? It breaks my heart to see him this way. Oh... I wish you'd tell me. I'd do anything for you, please, just tell me."

The Poke Island series was a pretty heavy series compared to my usual belief in the nonsense of cartoons and rejection of seriousness. Marriages on TV can be one note, whether they are always great or bitter. I wanted to make this one as real as possible, and real marriages have problems. It's all a part of the series emphasis on character development. I couldn't find this family as endearing as I do if they were plastic.

Goodnight!

If you were one of her kids, or just one of the resident kids, this would fill you with joy. Nidorina's such a tenderhearted woman, she likes to pamper little ones (or Nidorino) for a good night's rest every now and then, just to keep it a welcome surprise.

Poke Forest Karaoke

The denizens of the Poke Forest are a close bunch. They all know Nidorina can't sing, but they all encourage her anyway. Such a wonderful group of friends! Well, her kids just want to die, but you know how it is. As long as you're having a good time. The song I was thinking of when drawing this was Addictive Love by Bebe and Cece Winans (it's an old early 90's song), despite neither character sounding like them. I also like drawing exaggerated pics, but you knew this.

Resentment

There are people who just seem to have been dealt a bad hand in life. Nidorina will have to learn to forgive those have wronged her, or else she'll spend her life in eternal bitterness.
