A collab with a friend, Lunise. She did the lineart, I colored it. But the applet went crazy and I had to finish on MS paint. Oh well.
This is what happens when you use the wrong referencial image to market a character. Sugimori Nidorina is off dead somewhere while anime Nidorina is plastered all over. So, I did a caricature of the marketed design. I used the figurine as a reference again. I can assure you she's probably got a gruff, raspy voice that makes you cringe. And smoker's cough. I don't know why people take up smoking. People confuse me. Often. Too much.
The "pretty" Nidorina comes across the Nidorina they used in the anime. If I were her, I'd probably as anime-'Rina the same thing. This was handdrawn, but colored using the computer.
A old Nidorina pic. That's... all I have to say.
A figurine gives you actual depth and perspective, unlike a 2D picture. It's genius, and I'm surprised that as long as I had a Nidorina figure, I hadn't done so until I made this pic some years back. If they've got some model accurate merch, I recommend this practice for any cartoon character. That said I took the liberty with expressions, though, and femmed her up. It's not her fault everything used the anime design, that's just the hand she was dealt.
