Christmas 2009 - Nativity Scene
Link To Full Image
On some given day that we for some reason observe on December 25th, Needles was born. I kid, kids. I thought this would be cute to do, there's no sacreligious intent, believe you me. Although, you gotta be real, I'm pretty sure that's what Joseph was thinking. It's supposed to look like some kind of mural (or stone wall painting, even though it's probably got more colors than actually used in biblical times), and it uses familiar characters playing at least semi-fitting roles.
New Year 2010

Time to enter a new decade with a reimagining of the first New Year's pic Aqua Bunny had. Kinda like starting over again. The Nido representations you read for New Year 2007 apply here.
Valentine's Day 2010 - Kissy
Link To Full Image
You know how some artists' middle stage Nidos are drawn more rhino like? It's like I go the extreme opposite, mine get more and more rabbit like. Picture is rather self explaintory. All I can say is calling Nidorina crazy about Nidorino is an understatement. Obviously influenced by vintage design, specifically UPA in most cases, but not as flat. Kind of like the Valentine's related animation I had done. I can see where it's had a great impact on illustrative and cartooning styles, but that's not a discussion for this site. The background is the Pea Soup pattern by Jen Furlotte (www.pixelsandicecream.com).
Easter 2010

Poor Mrs. Hen, this is no dream or hangover. If you're quick, you can see where I got this idea. I was thinking of the imagery you sometimes see around this holiday, with rabbits hatching from eggs. Of course that doesn't make any sense, but neither does the concept of Pokemon eggs. And yet, it works anyway. So, seeing as I could pull off a rabbit hatching literally, and with Pokemon eggs being decorative, I instantly knew that I had to put the eggs in a henhouse and make a chicken check her sanity. I was lazy and used wood texture brushes for the wood texture.
Mother's Day 2010

Your kids will turn out the way you raise them, and the amount of time spent with them also has a huge effect during the developmental years. I'm sure Nidorina's kids will be fun, loving, and fun loving just like their mother is, and Nidorina truely enjoys playing with her kids. They are her world, you know. But hey, daddy loves 'em too.
Father's Day 2010

Stereotypically speaking, fathers are either the most distant from their kids (workaholics, etc) or relate the closest, being a kid at heart (and probably a little stupid). I dislike both of those. Nidorino's typically busy and seemingly distant but he really means well. He cares about his kids and wants to be close to them. But he's not ignorant to what his kids like (even if they are all under 7), so he plays with them accordingly. Afterall, he was a free spirit once. What a loving dad, that Nidorino.
Christmas 2010 - I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus
Link To Full Image
And how! This is a rather charming bit of non traditional art, and yes, this is made with real paper cutouts. The use of only paper and the imperfections throughout turn what could've been another holiday drawing into something cute and different. I could be wrong, but I think I had this idea in my head since 2008 or 2009. I don't quite know what changed my mind either time, although it might have been because it was going to be a story instead of a picture, or because the idea of Nidorina making out with ol' "Saint Nick" seemed a bit much. Oh Nidorina, not in front of the kids! Another thing is that I feel like this scene is ripe for commentary you could add in for any of the children ('cept Diana). Totodile: I didn't know Santa could do the Tango~ Come on, this stuff writes itself.
New Year 2011 - Shooting Star

I didn't have any idea of what to do this year. I just wanted to play Epic Mickey. :(
2011 - Year of the Rabbit
Link To Full Image
Influenced by sumi-e. Okay, so I didn't use any ink, and there's some color, but I did use watercolors (the kind in the tube, not the cakes). Took a few tries, but I ended up with this version which I like the most. To me, it took far less time than anything digital would have. The brush strokes just wouldn't've been the same if I tried this in Photoshop. Anyway, happy Year of the Nidoran. Uh, Rabbit. Same difference.
Valentine's Day 2011 - Practical Cards Set 1
Link To Full Image
Valentine's cards that are actually meant to be useful. This set includes characters Sentret, Charlotte, Nidorino (AU) and Wobbuffet. The pic's pretty big, just in case for some reason someone actually wants to print these out on cardstock. I am not responsible for any possible outcomes.
Valentine's Day 2011 - Practical Cards Set 2

Valentine's cards that are actually meant to be useful. This set includes characters Reilina (who makes a lot of cameos for a defunct character), Gengar, Clara and Nidoqueen. The pic's pretty big, just in case for some reason someone actually wants to print these out on cardstock. I am not responsible for any possible outcomes.
Valentine's Day 2011 - Practical Cards Set 3

Valentine's cards that are actually meant to be useful. This set includes characters Lady Mew, Psyduck, Nidorino and Nidorina. The pic's pretty big, just in case for some reason someone actually wants to print these out on cardstock. I am not responsible for any possible outcomes.
Easter 2011 - Springtime
Link To Full Image
Something I rushed out the door, not 100% Easter related so much as just general springtime. Only pencils and colored pencils used (except the font that says Springtime). Yeah, I guess there's a homey coziness to this picture, but it's so boring (coming from me, anyway). Seriously, anyone could've drew this, in fact you can probably find the exact same cliche somewhere else.
Mother's Day 2011

For best effect, imagine Dot has the shy, stilted and slurred-stumbly tone of a three year old. That's how her line is supposed to read, but I never quite know if that translates on paper. I wish I had VAs for these characters, especially the babies. Man would that be adorable. Happy Mother's Day to all mothers, wifes, children, grandchildren and everyone else who's been touched by a maternal influence. :)
Father's Day 2011
Link To Full Image
It's time to upgrade, dad. But if you're over 200 years old, can you really be blamed for just wanting something you're handy with that's stood the test of time? Talk about a generation gap! This Father's Day piece was made in relation to the dads out there who received gifts that were either impractical or they just have no use for, but are well aware of the good intentions of their sons and daughters (especially if you've got a teenager willing to spend big bucks on an expensive gadget!). Here's hoping you dads out there aren't stuck with "World's Greatest Dad" ties! But remember, this day is about appreciating the father figure in your life, and showing him you care, so here's to all the respectable fathers the world over. PS: I think I've kissed up to Jeff Smith enough in this piece. :)
It's The Great Pumpkin...
Holiday Treats Are Extra Sweet
Link To Full Image
This picture isn't really geared to any particular holiday, but it is rooted in seasonal specialties. Inspired by some chocolates I had from Godiva. These were no ordinary flavors, however (which at Godiva are anything but from the get go), but special autumn flavors. They might've been Halloween themed but with flavors like pumpkin pie and its association with Thanksgiving, it's hard to tell. Anyway, the orange one is Pumpkin Cheesecake (and arguably the best one I had), the one with nuts is Carrot Cake (pales in comparison to the real deal, though), and the yellow drizzled one is Caramel Apple. I may not be much for Halloween, but I love how the Autumn holidays get the food industry pumped into making specialty flavors the likes you'll never see again until Christmas (if then), and then you have to wait until next year. And that's why the picture is titled thusly. Originally, this picture was going to have Nidorina, being one to enjoy carrot cakes and decadent delicacies. But I decided it'd work better as a holiday-ish piece, and I really wanted to do something cute with Needles for the longest time.
Christmas 2011 - Grab Bag
Link To Full Image
So that's why your present went missing. You remember that kid that always wanted to know what everyone else got? And if s/he could have, would've taken it from you? It's kinda like that. Anyway, a bit of a rush job, here, in that I really did not have the time to work on this and another thing (and would've preferrably stuck with the other thing). The concept I had in mind for a couple of weeks, though, so at least there's that. It explains why I didn't bother with digital colors, though.
New Year 2012

I actually had this idea last year, but it wasn't as fleshed out, which is why I went with the shooting star theme instead. I kind of like these one panel comics. It's all I got the time for.

Aqua Bunny: 3rd Year Anniversary
Link To Full Image
On December 13, 2009, Aqua Bunny lasted three full years. And it was meticulous. The greater portion of the year was spend on rebuilding the site and re-establishing it. And yet, even statistically it's still better than 2008 was. Then again, so was 2007. Slow year? Anyway, some new things that you see today were established with the new site, such as articles and character bios. All in all, it's pretty much a fresh start. Follows consistant design from the first two anniversary pictures.
Aqua Bunny: 4th Year Anniversary
Link To Full Image
On December 13, 2010, Aqua Bunny lasted a whole four years. And it... eh. The year went by so fast, I can't actually recall any one individual thing. But, I know I'm really cramming it in, here, whatever I can do. This year seemed mostly like piddlin' stuff, considering all the bigger ideas I'm still working on (aside from WarioWare DIY, had that planned out since it was first revealed to the Japanese public). Hopefully, next year some of the fan art (or whatever bare minimum outside content) slack'll be picked up so I can just zero in on the really big deals.
Aqua Bunny: 5th Year Anniversary
Link To Full Image
On December 13, 2011, Aqua Bunny lasted a whole five years. And holy smokes it was even faster than the last. Maybe I'm getting older, time seems to speed up when you're old. And I've been busy as all get out, which is beneficial only for me, but not really for the site. No, I'm not moving on, this isn't that speech (though I might be iRL, God I hope so). Anyway, this time I decided to go a more symbolic route with the picture, to reflect the past year. What it means is that despite all the bright lights just ahead as far as new releases go on some media, I've been otherwise keeping everyone in the dark. If you weren't a part of the newsletter, you don't know jack, and if you were/are, up until a point I've kept people informed until I went into blackout-workathon mode. If I recall the whole fiasco with Mega Man Legends 3 (remember when I made that update? Check out the Multimedia section if you weren't around), Capcom hasn't really won back its fans by keeping people in the dark. And as I said back then, the last thing I'd want to be is to become a lot like Capcom has been towards Mega Man fans. So for that, I do apologize if the year has been really slow (though I warned this would happen last year), and for being so mysterious, but I don't want to make the mistake of announcing something WAY too soon (Poke Island Special Edition, for starters). And to those following the newsletter, you know how long this new thing's been in development. Almost to the point where for profit developers would be better off dropping the project. So here's the deal. I'm 100% free of any other responsibilities after Decemeber the 18th. That may not last too long, so what I want to do is to make sure I get one thing showcased by or before Christmas. I've been riding along using two different calendars this year, the Chinese calender and the Gregorian calendar. While I technically have some time left using the Chinese calendar, I'd rather say I at least had something to show for the international year of 2011. So have the stakes been raised? You betcha. But barring any unfortunate mishaps (and believe me, they happened, and yes, it was site related. I don't tell you these things though because I don't believe in scaring people if the problem can be solved, and solved it was), I'm ready for it.
