Poke Island Series
Poke Tales and Poke Legends Nidos
Link To Full Image
A group pic of all the Nido characters of Poke Tales and Poke Legends by the end of the series. Everyone's in cute mode, as well. I could've arranged it better in retrospect, but here we are. Also, this doesn't include Poke Island Nidos. One day I'll do a group picture of all the major Nidos of the trilogy, but hey, I'm 2/3s there.
Mrs. Nidorina

While looking around your site I thought to myself, “Why aren’t there any super deformed pics of Mrs. Nidorina??” So to change that I drew a cute little pic/comic type thing for you. I heard that Mrs.Nidorina loves to clean up messes; I imagine she’d both be thrilled and agitated to see a giant mess like this one. More thrilled though. :3

I remember when my mom used to make church suits for women. I can't remember too well what they looked like, but I know she'd have customers come over to be fitted every now and again. She later downsized to hats and jewelry, but she's re-expanding to other avenues. I'd insert a plug here but I'm pretty sure this site targets all but the correct audience for that.
Nevertheless I wanted to draw a suit on Nidorina, not the one she wears in the series (which is green for one), but I thought it'd be nice and in character. She's kind of exaggeratedly drawn, but then again what pictures of mine aren't?
Super Version BUN-BUN
Link To Full Image
So, it's that time again, and I've made a picture I like more than both Bun-Bun and Mrs. Nidorina v3. I decided to think bigger for this one, and since each picture of the Nidorina series is a kind of tribute, I made the background images of Nidorina historical, or just for fun. Each of the background images I drew new, nothing pulled from archieves, and you probably already know I can emulate my old drawing styles. At the top, you have all the clearly defined old styles from 1999 to about 2006-ish (early Aqua Bunny/Late Creative Worlds). You can see that the earliest was clearly a misinterpretation of Sugimori's Nidorina made to be cuter, and honestly the closest to it (if I knew how to draw better). I thought Nidorina had a kind of lump for a horn, but it's just the angle the official art was drawn in. Later my own style started kicking in and this Nidorina officially had a small horn. The bottom's just fun drawings, of course including Muriel, an OC heavily based off of Nidorina (and practically her personification). And in the middle is the centerpiece, Mrs. "Bun-Bun" herself in a cutesy Manga style. I love it.

My VERY first picture that I have made for Aqua Bunny. It is Mrs. Nidorina, I used the old ‘how to draw guide’ to create this drawing of her. Hope everyone enjoys it. :)
Alternate Universe
Alternate Universe Nidos

The major Nidos of Alternate Universe, all once owned by Kine (considering it's based on my actual Silver game). Done in that sort of over the top Manga style where everyone and everything is blushing. Maybe they all have rosacea. I really like what I did here, though I'm biased and still like Bun-Bun better.

A romantic moment nobody could mess-up. Nidorino was too cheap to buy the tickets to the festival (the reason for fireworks) D: at least they saw the fireworks :D.

Just some sketches I decided to color the other day of Charlotte and Nido-san. They weren't drawn together originally so Charlotte isn't to scale.
Radio Nidorina 2010

Nidorina is a peppy and friendly young adult who, in the end, usually does the right thing. She tends to be playfully contrary, which may come off as annoying if you can't take a teasing. Nidorina seems to love music, and can often get lost in the rhythm. What's her favorite types of music, you ask? The type of music that tends to overpower her and get her body moving, such as house, trance, rave, and dance. Editorial note: Nidorina's come a long way. You know, I dunno if I ever said this, but I'm actually rather glad there are fans of "Nido-san" (or AU for some reason) because honestly, if people didn't pay it much attention, I'd've still left it alone like I originally had (and unlike Poke Island I didn't have any attachment to it). Nidorina was more or less known before as combatant who actually opposed to fighting, and could miraculously cut hair, and played big sister. Generally. But these days I've developed her more or less away from that do-it-all angle (much like I did Charlotte) and essentially she's much more like a normal, but relatable young adult. Granted I haven't depicted this much yet in comics currently on site, but trust me, it's where she's headed. And I like to base characters off of real people, not stereotypes, because life has the most interesting people and stories already, and I like to capture that essence in my characters (moreso since the past couple of years). Because of that, I can honestly say I've grown more attached to "Nido-san", (a nickname I hardly even refer to anymore outside of clarity reasons, and, respectfully, she doesn't even like it ("AAUUGHHH I'M NOT JAPANESE!")) because like the Nidorina before her, putting realism into a character really makes them sing. So, I thank you for your appreciation, I couldn't've gotten here without it.

We play the hits all night long, baby. I actually like this one better, despite the original having more work put into it. I was going for something a bit more graphic designy. And it's official. Pokemon belong in urban environments. Everything does. Cities rock so hard.
Two Sides of Charlotte
Elegant Gothic
Link To Full Image
I find these days a lot of inspiration comes from stuff my sister likes (even if not in direct relation). She buys Japanese fashion magazines, and it pretty much got me aquainted with Gothic Lolita. I actually find it cute, to be honest. Maybe because the Japanese girls dress more like drab porcelain dolls than any western notion of "goth" (for the most part). I find that fits Charlotte more anyway, considering she's hardly a "dark" character (heck, is anybody?), but closer to an unsettling weird. Like, Charlotte would fit more into Coraline than Nightmare Before Christmas, if you understand what I mean.
Shelter Charlotte
Tita Nium (but Not Actually...)
Link To Full Image
This is actually Tita Nium. There couldn't be a more perfect character match than Tita Nium and Charlotte. So why not just fuse them (and I suck at gijinka, so getting more Tita than Lottie's not an option)? I've been following Otomedius from the sidelines ('cause some of us don't have Japanese XBox360s), but Tita's character evolution from Gorgeous to Excellent is spot on. She went from emotionless girl to the weird space case girl who gives awkward smiles over the span of one game (she still delivers lines with halfhearted apathy, though). I mean, come on, LOOK AT THAT POSTURE (it's even slouchier in the character select). The hair's bloomin' similar too, even the pig tails look like how I draw flopped Nidorina ears. Now, I'm not much for, pardon me, "boob shooters", but Otomedius is an offshoot of Parodius, which in turn is an offshoot of Gradius, which I happens to be a series I keep tabs on. Unfortunately (IMO), Otome is 5 times the fan service and like, a third of the funny Parodius is, but hot dog I was sold when they referenced the heck out of Xexex. I mean, my God. It's, like, only one of my favorite games.
Some Cute Chick Named Nidorina
Link To Full Image
I like drawing females. I think my two most favorite groups of living things to draw are females and children. I'm also non-partial to species. Humans, animals, shoot I'll draw a set of toasters with faces, and they'd probably be children, because kids are inherently funny iRL. I focus on the feeling of the subject, not what the subject is (unless it's huge, gritty and realistic, to which my attention span can't be bothered). It occured to me one day when I was working on my sketches for this comic I'm doing (an original work) that I don't have a lot of male characters, or sketches of generic guys for that matter. One reason being that a lot of art blogs that I view now and then tend to be by women illustrators, and make up a high percentage of my inspiration. There's just something about the way they color and draw, like I swear it's something women have that men don't, and it's always visually appealing. Life studies, pin-ups, unicorn doodles, whatever, it all just works. It speaks to my tastes of careful coloring and a cute appeal (even if they don't want to admit it). And it goes without saying that these girls are typically drawing girls themselves. But to be fair, there's a plethora of great male artists, specifically those who can create similar works.
Development Cycle of a Cute Chick

While working on this piece, I really liked the way the work looked at different stages, so I saved them and put it together here so you can have a look too. True story: While the concept of this picture was in my head all week, I finally thumbnailed it out it on my DS. While waiting to get a haircut. You can't tell me portable gaming devices don't have a use. The construction version adds the tail and spikes (among other details). Doing so required me to close off the pant crease, so her butt looks big in the rough draft (it's not technically supposed to be that way, don't start :I). I will admit I was going for tight-waisted jeans to fit around her hips, as shown in the DS concept. It's interesting to me that I continue to develop any character I draw, original or fan based, both actively and passively. And by passive, I mean the changes can be indirect, such as within sketches, doodle skits, or some other kind of one-off outside of the series proper. It's like they grow as I do, only the foundation ever stays consistant. I may've said this already, but Nidorina today is a lot different than she was back when Aqua Bunny started in 2006. Today, she's what I would refer to as a "cute girl", which if I had to choose a favorite character archetype, this would be it. By cute I don't mean adorable-cute or attractive-cute, I mean the silly, fun, and a bit unusual ("quirky", but I tire of that term). The kind who's feminine but not overly girly-girl, and probably has an equal amount of male and female friends. These are traits of Nidorina from the get go anyway, but I'm starting to make it more believable in comparison to young women in real life, and less generic cartoon protagonist. I no longer care about the ACTION!Girl side of Nidorina, but it's an important part of her character history, so I'm not out and out retconning it. I capture Nidorina as a "cute girl" here with her bright eyes and sincere big smile, but I don't make her so adorable-cute that she starts to appear prepubescent. Her body language counters by saying "yes, I am a young adult". Other changes to Nidorina of note include me not drawing the Pink Bow item nearly as much, and "Nido-san" dying out as a nickname. But you'll know it's her due to her default hairstyle, her unique ears, and her spot pattern when you can see it.
Meganekko? No.

Why draw one way when you can draw twelve ways? Even then, I could've chose some different options, but I character matched it a bit, though. Since I left the following information off of the original pic, I'll add the creation dates to this one. In order of appearance: 1999 - Agnes (Poke Island), "Mrs." Nidorina (Poke Tales); 2001 - Nidorina "Nido-san", Charlotte (Poppistar/Alternate Universe); 2002 - Miranda (no series); 2004 - Nidozilla (originally none. Later, Other Alternate Universe); 2005 - Riri (Chibi's Corner), Reilina (Other Alternate Universe), Mandie (unused Pokemon college character); 2006 - Chibi-Chibi (representative), Carmela (Carmela: ¡Alcance Las Estrellas!), Lisa (unknown).
... And a Bunch of Nidoran, Too!

Aqua Bunny isn't just centered on Nidorina anymore. So why not introduce you to this cast of cute and happy Nidoran? These are all my Nidoran characters. Here's what's intresting, all but one are from the Poke Island Series, so I guess I haven't been as Nidoran friendly since then. Here's the creation date rundown: In order of appearance: 1999 - Melody, Rondo (Poke Island); 1999-2000(?) - Nidoran (F), Martha, Gerald, Nidoran (M), Dot, Needles (Poke Tales); 2000-2001(?) - Diana, Nina*, Chaud* (Poke Legends); 2006 - Angelina (Carmela: ¡Alcance Las Estrellas!). *Chaud may have appeared first, too lazy to confirm. And now, some really quick background info. Melody and Rondo are child siblings, but importantly Snow Nidoran, a species of Nidoran with a thicker, white coat living on Mt. Frosty. They lead a choir of other Snow Nidoran kids, and this choir is known as the Snow Children (so now, the fictional Love and Peace song title should make sense). Nidoran (female) kick started Poke Tales, really, and my love for Nidos. Martha and Gerald Faurnsworth are an older Nidoran couple who fell on hard times. They're also one of the few characters in the series with a surname. Nidoran inadvertantly got them back from rags to riches, but the Faurnsworths are very generous and pleasant to be around. Nidoran (male) is a really nice guy, and a bit of a thrill seeker. Dot is the Nidoran family's only child. She started off a bully, but just became talky. Needles is the Nidorino family's first born. He's very shy, but likes sweets. Diana is the Nidorino family's second born. She's very sweet natured. She looks a lot like her mom in this picture, too. Nina is the Nidorino family's third born. She's fragile. Chaud is the child of Nidoking's family. Nidoqueen thought it'd be fun to have a baby just like her friends Nidoran and Nidorina. Let's just say the Nidoroyals weren't well prepared. Chaud's a little whiny. Angelina is Carmela's childhood friend. She, like Carmela, has a pretty snappy attitude, but she believes in family and keeping traditions, and has an optomistic personality hidden inside her tough exterior. Be sure to check the Character Bios for more info, even in the future.

Cartoonists, illustrators and animators my get a kick out of the top image. It was both really funny and absolutely horrifying to draw. I need to cleanse myself. I remember I saw on Yahoo's homepage one day a promo image for Shrek 4, and Shrek was giving the 'Tude look. I mean, come on! Is there anything they DON'T use this on? Anyway, next to it is self redemption, but an important note in case anybody felt like doing Nido-san fan art(?). Nidorina is actually very girly in demeanor, despite not being one in personal tastes. I like to derive personalities from real life people. Everything else is everything else, but I know you're lovin' the extra rabbity Nidorino. Made just because I know how much everyone wants it. ;)
Charlotte, Charlie
Link To Full Image
Of all your nido-characters, I've always had a biting urge to draw Charlotte. Maybe it's the character design, or maybe it's just the last couple of AU comics (which are awesome beyond further description). To spare some more unnecessary rambling, I was recently prompted to draw her when I realized that my own nido-character, Charlie, had a name that is strikingly similar to Lottie's. ... I... swear that wasn't intentional. For whatever reason I never caught on. ^^;
I ended up drawing both of 'em, but I'm not so pleased with how my own character turned out. In hindsight, that's probably because I'd put so much effort into making Charlotte look somewhat accurate that I didn't have the willpower to make my own nido look any good. XD

Okay this is not my best work but here is Charlotte with my character Jessica the pikachu. Kine got Jessica from the same pokenerd who gave him nidorina. Jessica can also know what Charlotte says.
Glasses Make Everything Smarter

Except Nidorino's (center left) aren't real. But he sure wears them for this reason. I've established from "credible sources" that not only do glasses make you cuter, but anyone who wears them is absolutely brilliant.
TENNY ROP
Link To Full Image
Yeah, this picture would be better suited for Creative Worlds, but bear with me. Seeing as I could work Tetran into some wordplay, it wasn't long before I considered Tenny Rop (aka Tetran 2). It was gonna be piloted by a Buneary long ago, but then I realized that l/rop wasn't anywhere to be found in its name (including the original). Lopunny didn't sit along side Nidoran very well like a Buneary would've, so I decided I would make her a boss-ish character, and give her an actual name. Lopear is the lieutenant of the Jade Rabbit (moon rabbit) fleet, which I jokingly decided were all but useless to the Bacterian army. Having recently seen some Otomedius X gameplay, it gave me the "oh what the heck" boost I didn't necessarily want to finally draw this out. So, here it is, a parody of a parody of a parody. Excuse the lack of a real comanding outfit, no one wears anything in Otome (not literally). This piece itself still has a Parodius-ish vibe because dangit, they should've continued that series instead. (People viewing this): "Why can't he draw normal Pokemon art like everybody else?"
Kent Berkley!
Link To Full Image
I don't really draw Nidoking, I think we've established that. But between a generic one, the one from Poke Island and Kent, I'd have to say I actually enjoy the entire concept of Kent. The PI one looks just like a generic one anyway, 'cept maybe friendlier. On the other hand, Kent's got an interesting face. And that's just for starters. And then the idea of this stoic but respectable, several generations old Nidoking who basically lives to do his trade in carpentry... I dunno, it's kind of funny to me because his demenor would be the type of the predictible old world hard worker who takes pride in the self made man (and whatever counrty he lives in). This would be normal if it wasn't for the fact that the rest of the world has moved on to the information age. So I felt like drawing him getting right to work, because back in his day, a man had to live by his principles.

Anita
Link To Full Image
Can you guess who this is a personification of? Actually, to be honest, she's an original character of mine (so, yay more art that most people don't know about). So wait, what's a non nido doing on this site? To answer that and the aforementioned question, she is a personification of "Nido-san", as if you probably didn't infer as much. However, Anita has some unique differences from the Pokemon she spawned from. For one, she's slightly younger, and isn't the do-it-all that "Nido-san" is. In fact, she's just a graphic design student (who wants to specialize in poster and ad design) instead of a hair stylist. Being human, she's supposed to be a lot more relatable and therefore, more real. Personality wise, though, they're pretty much the same (fun tomboy-ish yet girly sporty kinda quirky girls with a jerkish older sibling complex that enjoy "lame" stuff all the while find humor in everything but go to tears over nothing. Typical, really), and they're both Montana born gals. There's two reasons I put this picture up, though. First of all, so that there's an "official" "Nido-san" personification on here. Although, really, what did you expect her to look like? And secondly, just to further prove that my personifications are much better than my gijinka. Then again, I can't really draw humans manga style anyway. The proportions of manga humans (mostly the face) just... throw me the heck off.
Muriel
Link To Full Image
You're familiar with Muriel. She's the personification of Nidorina of Poke Tales. And, much like her Pokemon counterpart lives vaguely on an island in the Pacific, Muriel is just Polynesian. Which island specifically? And what ethinicities are the most prominent in her? I don't know, and it's surely not important. Like Anita, she's an original character who spun off from an existing one, so she could actually be useable in the real world. She differs from Nidorina in that Nidorina's only life goal was just to find love, happiness and have a family, and she only happened by chance to become a temporary actress. Muriel, on the other hand, has a dream of stardom, but having a family unfortunately ties her up. She's also a little less obsessed with her husband, and she isn't tone deaf. However, lots of other things are similar, they both are rather cheerful women who love to both cook and eat the food they make, love kids, and are not as down to earth as their spouse is. Muriel intentionally has a kind of 1920's charm, despite not really knowing what time period her story's based in. Why? Because women in the early 1900's were women and men (like me) were glad of it! =D An interesting thing to note is that my original characters (so in other words, non licensed characters) work similiarly to the Tezuka Star System (I TOLD you I was gonna do it). So, while my characters have a sort of canon background, in another story that isn't theirs, they can play a totally different role. It's a way to introduce new characters and stories while keeping a few familiar faces, plus it's always fun to have the characters "act" a different part.
